Why Squidges?
Every batch of Squidges are freshly made to order to ensure the freshest and yummiest treats. We select the finest of ingredients and we love to champion and support our local independent businesses by working with them & sourcing our ingredients (where possible) from them. We are very generous with our ingredients - we believe if you’re going to treat yourself, you may as well do it properly!
We don’t want world domination, we are happy to be the little bakery with a big heart, hand baking each individual treat so that each mouthful is squidge-alicous.
Meet the Head Baker:
Katie (aka Squidge) started baking at the tender age of 5 (with the help of an aunt). She would make a different sweet treat every time she visited her aunty’s house.
“I can still smell the very first jam sponge I made, and it still makes me smile as it was such a happy, joyful and pleasant moment. It's since that moment that I’ve always associated baking with such joy.
Baking has always been in the background of my life, whether I was studying at university, planning my wedding or pregnant with my son - baking has always been a part of me.”
After the birth of her son in 2011, her passion for baking really came to the forefront. She was baking all sorts of culinary delights for her family and friends to enjoy - but the one thing that she was the most passionate about were her cookies, and cookies is where Squidges began in 2014.
“Cookies are nostalgic for adults, and bring new joy for children. Everyone enjoys a good home baked cookie, whether it's the fresh baked cookie smell or the chewy to soft taste. It seems to give a comforting and satisfying feeling like no other baked goods.”
Over the coming years, Katie started sharing her love of other baked treats - gooey brownies, treat bars & unique Christmas Eve boxes, which were a great hit with Squidges fans and are now firm favourites amongst the Squidges product range.
